It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known to the world as Pelé, on December 29, 2022. The Brazilian soccer legend passed away at the age of 82 after a long illness.

Pelé is widely regarded as one of the greatest soccer players of all time, having won three World Cups with Brazil in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He is the only player to have scored over 1,000 career goals, and his 1,281 goals in 1,363 games is a record that may never be broken.

Born in Três Corações, Brazil in 1940, Pelé began his professional career with Santos FC at the age of 15. He quickly established himself as a star player, leading Santos to several national and international titles. In 1956, he made his debut for the Brazilian national team, and he would go on to score 77 goals in 92 appearances for his country.

Pelé's skills on the field were matched only by his sportsmanship and humility off the field. He was a true ambassador for the game of soccer, and his impact on the sport will be felt for generations to come.

He is survived by his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by fans all over the world. May he rest in peace.
